iPhone OS 3.1

Tuesday, June 30, 2009

Apple has been sending out iPhone OS 3.1 Beta and SDK to developers. It's was heard that Apple has been emailing developers about iPhone OS 3.1 Beta and SDK, here is text from Apple's email:

iPhone SDK 3.1 beta and iPhone OS 3.1 beta are now posted to the iPhone Dev Center. These versions are for development and testing only and should be installed on devices dedicated to iPhone OS 3.1 beta software development. Please read the iPhone OS Pre-Install Advisory and the iPhone SDK 3.1 beta release notes before downloading and installing.

What to expect from iPhone OS 3.1? As of now there is not much info yet, the devs are still tinkering with what was sent to them but a new "Save a Copy" option for 3G S video editing is said to be something to watch out for, it lets the user retain the original film while saving an edited clip. More on this later...

I Bought an Asus Eee PC 1000HE Netbook for My Wife

Yesterday I bought my wife an Asus Eee PC 1000HE netbook. I did not have any particular model in mind but I did have tentative brands to choose from like the Acer Aspire One, HP Mini 1000, ASUS Eee PC, and Lenovo S10. But I ended up opting for the Asus Eee PC 1000HE Netbook. I chose the Asus netbook over the other brands in the same price range because of two reasons: first, I know that Asus invented the netbook technology and I trust ASUS; second, the battery. Yes, this baby can give my wife 9.5 hours of computing. That's the best lenght of time I've heard about that a netbook can give, other brands can only get you up to 6 hours. Anotrher reason is that I like its features. Here are the specs:

Intel Atom N280 1.66GHz processor
160GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive (Seagate 5400.5)
1GB of DDR2 RAM (667MHz)
Windows XP Home operating system with SP3
10” WSVGA LED-Backlit 1024 x 600 LCD
Ports: 3 USB 2.0, 1 VGA monitor out, headphone jack, microphone input, SD card reader (SDHC compatible), Kensington lock slot, Ethernet 10/100
Webcam (1.3 MP)
Battery: 7.2v 8700mAh 6-cell 63Wh battery
Wireless: 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.0
One-year warranty
Size: 10.47” x 7.3” x 1.12-1.50”
Weight: 3lbs 2.4oz, 3lbs 9.9oz travel

For a netbook, Asus Eee PC 1000HE is good enough.

I'll post actual images of my wife's netbook when I get home this evening.

VOIP services Reviews

Before choosing what's best for you, it is natural to shop around and learn about the companies that offer the kind of service that you need. When it comes to VOIP services, it is best to compare the services from different providers. It is important to know about VOIP services Reviews first before choosing your provider. When you know the weaknesses and strengths of each service provider, you can choose the one that best suites your business. It is not really easy to find the best telecommunications services online because there are hundreds of them and it is not that easy to tell which is the best from a distance.

Just like what I have done, I read VOIP services reviews and I learned about one good internet phone services provider. For affordable and high-quality internet phone services, head over to Spectrotel. Know more about the company through Spectrotel's profile here.

Transformers 2 Hits Big with Online Ticket Sales

Fandango, the online ticket vendor, is now having a big time ticket sales because of the movie Transformers 2. The movie came out yesterday and here's what Fandango COO Rick Butler says about it:

"The film's success proves that fans are ready for the summer and looking for an escape. Moviegoers should certainly buy their tickets in advance before heading to the theater. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen may end up enjoying one of the top-selling opening weekdays in the history of our company."

Fandango has released some very surprising stats:

- Last night Fandango sold out more than 2,000 midnight and late night/early morning showtimes nationwide. (Keep in mind, this is Fandango-only for one late-night showtime)

- Fandango has been selling more than 8 Transformers tickets per second during peak periods, prior to opening day. That number could rise today.

- Transformers 2 currently represents 94% of all ticket sales on Fandango (as of 9:00 am PT today).

- Transformers 2 now ranks as Fandango's biggest pre-sales title of the year to date.

- Transformers 2 is selling twice as many tickets as Iron Man sold on Fandango at the same point in that film's sales cycle.

- Midnight showtimes of Transformers 2 were sold out across the country, from Abingdon, Maryland to Yuba City, CA. One theater in Las Vegas sold out as many as ten midnight showtimes.

- Theater owners are continually adding new showtimes throughout the day to accommodate the fan demand.

VIPRE Antivirus

Wednesday, June 24, 2009

The common downside of most antivirus software is that they slow down your PC. If you have been using an antivirus software that impedes your otherwise smooth computing, then you must ditch it for something that won't make your PC slow. There is a new Antivirus Software that doesn't slow down your PC because its design is low on system resources and optimizes your overall PC user experience. Popups and and warnings (which distract most computer users) are also kept at the very minimum. The new antivirus software I am talking about is VIPRE Antivirus, it has been given 5 stars at Download.com bevause of how good it is. VIPRE combines antivirus, antispyware, anti-rootkit and other technologies into a seamless, tightly-integrated product. You can try it out for your self and see how effective it is and how light it is for your system. You can download a fully working 15-day trial of VIPRE Antivirus at their website.

Chat in 45 Languages in Real-time with Babelwith.me

There's a new service that allows you to chat in 45 languages in real-time. Yes, this service is Babelwith.me. With BabelWith.me you can communicate with anyone, anywhere in up to 45 languages. BabelWith.me is a simple, free group chat that automatically translates your conversation as you type. Here's what Mashable has to say about this new service:

A new and very interesting service is trying to solve both of these problems using a simple and innovative platform: BabelWith.Me. BabelWith.Me is a web-based group chat tool with a major twist: it automatically translates conversations into 45 languages. Here, try out the Mashable room to see it in action.

The Alpha service is incredibly straightforward to use. Just click the “Start a Conversation” button on the homepage…and that’s it. That one click creates an entirely new chatroom that you can invite friends, colleagues, and strangers to use. It’s a simple interface, but with two important features. First, it has easy-to-use sharing buttons for Facebook, Twitter, and email. This makes it simple to bring others into the conversation.

The important feature of BabelWith.Me though is the auto-translation system. You have the option of selecting your language (we believe the default is either your browser’s set language or English). Once you do, anytime you speak, it will be automatically translated for all other chat participants. It also kindly adds a copy of the original message in case the translation goes bad or if you understand the language. We’re pretty certain the translations are powered by Google Translate.

Technology is really breaking barriers, it shrinks the world into a better place to live in. Shrink? Yeah. The world is smaller now than it was.

How To Maintain Your Windows Registry And Prevent PC Errors

Friday, June 19, 2009

It is surprising that a large number of computer users are not familiar with the Windows registry and its importance. The registry can be defined as the central database of your computer that contains vital information about the system such as configuration and settings information of operating system, other software and installed hardware. The registry is updated every time any new application or component is installed or uninstalled on your system. Every time something new is added, relevant entries are added to the registry to ensure its smooth functioning and similarly, every time an application is removed, the appropriate entries are removed from the registry. This extensive usage of the registry, incomplete uninstallations, and other such issues may leave behind unnecessary information in the registry causing it to bloat up to a very large size.

These issues may manifest in the form of different computer errors. While the information overload may slow down access to information in the registry thereby deteriorating the performance of your computer, the corrupt or irrelevant entries may cause several computer errors including common errors such as DLL and EXE errors. There are three main tasks that you can perform to maintain your registry:

  1. Backup your Windows Registry: There could be some fatal errors that may cause a system crash or some irreversible damage to your registry. To counter this, it is always preferable that you backup your registry frequently. You can do this by using any of the following three methods:

    • Make a manual backup of the registry through RegEdit, the Registry Editor tool, that comes along with your Windows Operating System.

    • Use System Restore in Vista and XP computers to backup system files and the registry.

    • Use any popular third-party registry cleaner to make a complete backup of your registry automatically and effortlessly.

  2. Use registry tweaks to enhance system performance: Your system comes with registry entries that ensure a certain level of PC performance. You can always customize these registry entries to either enhance system performance as well as to stop unnecessary programs from running. There are several help sites on the internet that can educate you on this. If you are keen on registry tweaks, then it is always recommended that you take a complete backup of the registry before starting the tweaks so that you can undo any accidental damage that may happen to your registry during the process.

  3. Scan, Repair and Clean your Registry: While most of you take good care of the hard disk, the registry is another critical component of your system that requires equal amount of care. To do this, you need to clean your registry on a regular basis. You have two options for cleaning your registry: manual and automatic. Manual method of cleaning registry, by using Find and Delete in Registry Editor (regedit), is best left to experts as amateurs can find it tedious to work through the manual editing of registry keys. Automatic registry cleanup using a reliable registry tool not only helps you get rid of computer errors, but it also helps you defragment the registry, thus, enhancing the speed of your computer. A good registry cleaner uses advanced algorithms to thoroughly scan your registry and cleans out any errors and repairs damaged files automatically.

iPhone 3.0 Release time

The question that iPhone users want answered is "when is iPhone 3.0 Release time?" Well, check this out from FreeAppleiPodTouch.com:

First things first! On June 17, 2009 Apple will be releasing the iPhone OS 3.0 update through iTunes. This is happening just in time to compete with the Palm Pre webOS. iPhone OS 3.0 includes a lot of important updates including spotlight search, cut/copy/paste within apps, tethering, in-app purchases, landscape mode for native apps, and a whole lot more. One feature which I was really hoping for was multi-tasking, but Apple did not add this. I do think Apple may add it in the future, they want to implement it properly just like they did with copy and paste. It's definitely worth the upgrade! Unfortunately for us iPod Touch owners, the upgrade will cost $9.95 while all iPhone owners will be able to upgrade to iPhone 3.0 for free. Even with this fee, I'd say it's worth it.

iPhone 3gs

Monday, June 8, 2009

Apple's new iPhone would be announced a few hours from now and there are many speculations about it. What is expected of the new iPhone? Would it have a bigger RAM? HP Mini 1150 NR Only $199

Sunday, June 7, 2009

Amazon is now offering heavily discounted Netbooks with embedded 3G mobile broadband connectivity, one of which is HP Mini 1150 NR. Why did I say "heavily discounted"? It is because the model is sold for $199 only. Its regular price is around $650. But hey, there's a catch, I am sure; who would give away something like that for just $199. Let's see what's the catch: you can only have the big discount (around $300) if you also subscribed to the pricey (typically $60+/mo) wireless broadband service of either AT&T or Verizon. I guess it's okay, it looks like fair play.

Bing Travel

Thursday, June 4, 2009

Microsoft has rolled out Bing Travel, the travel section of its Bing search engine (or "decision engine" if you like). But just a few hours after it is out negative criticisms rained on it; some say that it's a ripoff of Kayak.com and that it fails to perform as good as Kayak. Others say that it looks like it is Farecast, the the company Microsoft bought in 2008.

I don't know why in recent years people have become so hostile about everything that is Microsoft and yet they use its OS. That is just my observation. Why so hostile about the company? Bing and Bing Travel has just came out fresh from the factory, let's give them a little time to show what they've really got before we kill them off with our negative criticisms. Anyways, it doesn't mean to say that I am switching to Bing. I played with the new search engine for a day after it came out and decided that "Google" is a better verb than "Bing". I love googling for information. But I tried binging my name and sure enough, it came out in the Bing SERP.

File Extension Ts

Have you encountered problems with File Extension TS? This problem happens every now and then because there are three different programs that use file extension ts.  Usually you'll see that the problem that is usually brought about by file extension ts is what program opens it?  There are three uses of the file extention .ts, first in creating QT translaton file, second in streaming .mpeg files, and third in a Tune Smithy file.

When your computer could not play a file, it could be that you d not have the appropriate program to open it. But if you have that program and still your computer can't open the file, probably there is a problem with your registry. When your registry has errors, files do not open. To fix your registry, you need a software to do the job for you because if you fix it yourself, your computer would be in danger of a bigger damage. There are sites that gives free scan of your registry like FileExtensionTs.com. In this site you can try for free Driver Cure and other softare that will help correct errors in your registry and in your system.
