Today some users read this message when they logged in to their Facebook account:


So Facebook is cooking up something big, a "faster, simpler version of Facebook," in the form of Facebook Lite. According to one user who has been selected to become a beta-tester of Facebook Lite, it looks like a “FriendFeed-esque” version of Facebook. Here's more details:

The stream appears to be reduced to just status updates, likes, and comments – no activity stories, application stories, or embedded content appear. In addition, profile page tabs have been moved to the left side of the page, all basic info and small profile boxes have been removed, and the publisher is not open by default.

This is what Facebook spokespersons are saying:
