Facebook and MySpace Partnership?

Tuesday, October 27, 2009

Yes, Facebook and Myspace are now talking about sharing content, this is according to high ranking officials of both social networking websites. Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook's COO, gave The Telegraph the following statement:
“Facebook is focussing on building the best technology which helps people share content, while at MySpace they are focussing on more a content-led strategy. We would like to have their content, as we already do with many other sites, shared across our network because it is good for our users.

“We are open to working with MySpace and are in talks with them at the moment. Owen (Van Natta, MySpace’s chief executive) used to work at Facebook and we are still very close to him.”

When asked how the partnership could work, Ms Sandberg explained: “Hypothetically speaking, as nothing has been formally arranged yet, MySpace could become a Facebook Connect partner – which would allow people to share content they liked from MySpace with their Facebook network.”

MySpace's CEO, Owen Van Natta has this to say:
"We are in talks with Facebook, and other sites, about how we could partner with them," he said. "Partnerships are going to be a big part of our strategy moving forward as a lot of value can be derived from them."
What would this development bring to the users of Facebook and MySpace. If this move is managed well, I guess we users of the two social networking sites would benefit from it a lot. I guess the two organization are seeing that they can complement each other.

Wednesday, October 21, 2009

I want my PC fast that is why I always have some registry cleaners around. I can be comfortable with my computing without registry cleaners. Don't you know that one of the secrets of maintaining a fast PC is in having a squeaky clean registry? Yes, it's not only the hardware that matters, it is also in the registry. The registry is where the heart of the PC is. The registry controls everything. If the registry is clogged with junk, your PC's performance would be affected so it is a must to clean your registry every once in a while. There are many registry cleaners around but if you want to know about the best ones, it is good to check out RegistryCleaners.com for the latest and the best registry cleaners that you can have.

Woohoo, what is Droid up to giving iPhone sharp jabs in its new TV spot? The TV ad is short and simple but every second of it is like a boot on the face of iPhone. The TV spot is called Droid Does and its message is clear:

Here is the Droid Does TV spot:

Kanzius Machine

John Kanzius, an American inventor and radio and TV engineer was suffering from leukemia that is why he developed his very own radio wave machine in the hope that it would help cure him. His machine is now known as the Kanzius Machine. Kanzius put his body into his machine and turned it on in 2008. Although Kanzius died on February 2009 and it is not yet proven if his invention really help cure cancer, it has become something of interest in the medical field. The Kanzius Machine was featured on CBS's 60 Minutes, here are CBS videos about the machine:

I hope further studies would lead to the development of machines that would really help cancer patients. The Kanzius Machine is a step towards that goal.

Farmville Crop Whisperer

Friday, October 16, 2009

It seems that everyone is playing Farmville and I am the only one left not playing it. I have a farm in Farmville but I don't have time to till my virtual farm, it is my four-year-old son who cares for my virtual farm. My son knows a lot about farmville and now he told me about this new feature called Farmville Crop Whisperer. What is it? To be honest, I really don't know, but based on what I have gathered from my son, this new feature allows players to randomly select users gift, and recognize 5 bags of fertilizer each day. What is its implication on the game? Again, I really do not know, I'll ask my little boy about it.

Blackberry Storm 2

The second version of the touchscreen emailer has arrived, the Blackberry Storm 2 is here and it boasts of many improvements. Blackberry Storm 2 is way better than its predecessor in many ways. Even if at first glance it looks as if there are only a few visible changes on the surface, there are actually changes that could make you smile. The first good improvement is in the speed, this baby is way way faster than the original Storm. No more bugs and the delays that users experience when typing. It now boats of scrolling and swiping that really work. It has a new SurePress keyboard with auto correction which makes it possible for users to roll over keys and prepare for the next push. Physically, it looks slicker than the original version, and read this: it has WiFi, 3G, and a 3.2MP camera. Here's a video of the Blackberry Storm 2:

Turns Your Computer Into a Server with Opera Unite

Wednesday, October 14, 2009

Opera has announced the release of Opera Unite, a product that is said to "reinvent the web." What is it exactly? This browser, Opera claims, can turn your PC into a server because Opera Unite is a web server in the web browser.

Opera CEO Jon von Tetzchner said about the product:
"Today, we are opening the full potential of the Web for everyone, technology moves in distinct cycles. PCs decentralized computing away from large mainframes. Opera Unite now decentralizes and democratizes the cloud. With server capability in the browser, Web developers can create Web applications with profound ease. Consumers have the flexibility to choose private and efficient ways of sharing information. We believe Opera Unite is one of our most significant innovations yet, because it changes forever the fundamental fabric of the Web."

Opera Unite allows you to enjoy the following: file sharing, web server, media player, photo sharing, chat, and "the fridge," which allows users to post notes on their friends' "virtual refrigerators." I have just downloaded it and I am testing it. I will put in some updates after I have used this app for a few days.

Google Building Maker

Google announced on Tuesday the Launch of Google Building Maker, a 3D modeling tool for adding buildings to Google Earth. This tools is for anyone who wants to help Google enhance Google earth with renderings of buildings from selected cities around the world. From what I gathered, the tool is easy to use, all one needs to do to make a building is first select a city from around the world, then make a building from the photos Google provide, then save the building for review. If the submitted building passes the review it will become visible in Google Earth.

Google product manager, Mark Limber, and Matt Simpson, Google user experience designer, wrote in the Google Blog:

"We like to think of Building Maker as a cross between Google Maps and a gigantic bin of building blocks. Basically, you pick a building and construct a model of it using aerial photos and simple 3D shapes – both of which we provide."

PhotoSketch

Tuesday, October 6, 2009

I envy the guys who created PhotoSketch because they have brought into being a software that is based on a simple idea but could bring results that could blow your mind. PhotoSketch is a photomontage software that can take any rough sketch made by hand and turn it into a beautiful photograph. The software will search the web for the appropriate images to use in the montage based on the labels one puts in the sketch. When it finds the appropriate images, the software will then stitch images together to come up with a perfect image based on the sketch. The video below explains the process perfectly. Prepare to be blown away.

Quick Fixes For DLL Issues And Other PC Problems

Monday, October 5, 2009

Did you know that most of the issues and errors generated due to problems in your Windows operating system, computer applications and other software can be quickly repaired if you have the right information?

A lot of computer users may find this difficult to believe because they cannot even make sense of the error message on the screen. But no matter how intimidating or confusing the error message may be, the underlying problem is usually not difficult to resolve if approached logically. One such problem that you may encounter while working on your computer is the DLL error or Dynamic Link Library error. This article will help you understand DLL problems and how to fix these issues quickly.

DLL errors occur when something goes wrong with files with the .dll extension. These files are added to your computer by the Windows operating system and all applications that are installed on your computer. The main job of DLL files is to act as a library of files that can be called upon by applications to perform the designated task which is general in nature. Since no application can do without these files, any DLL error can severely disrupt the functioning of your PC. Also, because these DLL files are present in very large numbers on any computer, the chances of your encountering a DLL error is relatively high. This is why you should know how to fix these errors yourself.

Your PC can generate DLL errors due to any of the following common issues:

  • Infection by Virus or Spyware - An example of this is the bridge.dll file which is loaded in a computer by spyware.

  • File not found errors - A DLL file may disappear and it may affect the application. Xprt5.dll application error related to AOL is an example of this.

  • Improper installation – Sometimes the files of application that you have downloaded are not complete and when you install this application, it may generate DLL and other computer errors.

  • Incomplete uninstallation – A few DLL files of an application or its entries in the Windows registry may get left behind when it is uninstalled and cause problems

  • Driver issues – Obsolete or corrupt drivers of the peripheral devices are known to create DLL issues

  • Hardware problems – Malfunctioning of any of your hardware part can lead to DLL errors.

DLL Error Fixes

In order to quickly fix DLL errors, you must immediately write down the error message and start searching for its resolution on the Internet. You will find that recently a few websites that are purely dedicated to DLL problems have been launched and these are quite helpful in providing solutions to DLL problems.

A majority of DLL problems pertain to missing or corrupt DLL files which can be usually fixed by uninstalling and then reinstalling the application that generated the error. You may also try to download the concerned file and restore it in its appropriate file location.

Similarly, errors caused by virus or other malware can be resolved by cleaning up the PC with the help of a reliable anti-malware tool.

Errors related to outdated or corrupt device drivers are quite simple to resolve. The concerned driver just needs to be updated or replaced. You can seek help of a good driver scanner and update tool to do this task for you automatically.

You must make it a point to clean your Windows registry after performing the above tasks to ensure that any remnants of the issue in the registry are also removed.

Web Hosting, Dedicated Server, and VPS Hosting Knowledge

Sunday, October 4, 2009

An online business is one of the best businesses that anyone can have today as more and more people are getting on the web. There are many advantages in having an online business; it is easier to set up, easier to manage, and cheaper to maintain. Setting up an online store is way easier and cheaper than setting up an offline one. An online store has more reach than its offline counterpart; the offline store is local whereas the online one is global. Anyone with a small capital and a good working knowledge about the the ins and outs of the internet can easily succeed in any online business. Starting a business on the web is not as difficult as many would like it to appear; the knowledge that one needs to succeed in an online business can be gleaned for free from the web itself. If you know what to look for and where to look for it then you are on your way to success.

What are the things that one needs to know to succeed in his chosen online business? First he must know some basic SEO or search engine optimization. Contrary to what many people want you to believe, SEO is not that difficult to understand. The web is full of free information about this subject. You can easily get a good grasp of SEO with a few hours of reading. A good knowledge of web hosting is also necessary because web hosting is the backbone of every online business. Consider a web space you have bought as your virtual estate, just like an actual space in a building where you can put your store. Knowledge in web hosting will give you the edge over your competitors. Choosing your web hosting provider should not be based on guesswork because you need to make the right choice the first time you do it. Your choice of web hosting provider can make or break your online business. Of course for the uninitiated ones, it is not easy to identify the bad web hosting providers from the good ones. So how does one know which is the best web hosting for his business? The answer to that is in web hosting reviews. There are websites that provide web hosting reviews but the most reliable one that I know of is Web Hosting Geeks. This site has been around for years, providing web hosting reviews, rating and awards for free. Anyone could visit their site and learn about the best web hosting providers around. Their reviews are independent and are based on best price-value ratio, host reliability, uptime, key features, bonus features, customer support, past and current user feedbacks, user-friendliness, and many other factors on which good web hosting can be judged on. Aside from that, they also have their blog where you can learn much about things like dedicated server, webhosting types, VPS hosting, domain names, SEO, and many more. It is good to visit this site and read their reviews before deciding to buy web hosting package from some web hosting provider.

So if you are on the verge of starting your own online business, don;t dive in yet, be sure to have a good knowledge first about the things I've mentioned above. If you are confident that you have gleaned all the necessary knowledge then you can happily put your head into it. Remember that your success in your online ventures is dependent on your creativity, SEO knowledge, and web hosting provider. If you got the best of this three, it'd be difficult to fail.

Vidyartha College Facebook virus

Thursday, October 1, 2009

I have just read about this so-called Vidyartha College Facebook virus. I am on Facebook and I am on it everyday but I haven't heard anyone that I know in Facebook complaining about this virus. According to the three different blog posts that I have read about it, many Facebook users have reported about being brought to Vidyartha College page instead of where they wanted to go in the first place. This story has spread from user to user but no actual report has been heard of yet. Let's just wait and see is this thing will become big.

No, this post is not about dinosaurs. And this is not an attempt to convince you that dinosaurs aren't extinct, they're just hiding. This is about the two rivals, Google and Yahoo. Google: Dinosaurs Aren't Extinct They're Just Hiding
Dinosaurs Aren't Extinct They're Just Hiding
