Microsoft Security Essentials Download

If you love freebies, I guess you know about Microsoft Security Essentials. This antivirus software is Microsoft's answer to expensive computer security tools that are swamping the software market today. Microsoft Security Essential or MSE is a totally free software. It has just came out of its beta stage and is now available for download. It is available for Windows XP, Vista, and the new Windows 7. Though it is a freeware, it can do a lot of things that paid antivirus software can do like real-time monitoring of your system, protection from viruses, malwares, and other malicious software.

If you are using a pirated version of the Windows operating system, never mind trying to download it because you will not be able to install it. That's what I know, I haven't tried installing it on a PC that runs pirated Windows OS.

OpenACircle The Best Way to Collaborate

Sunday, September 20, 2009

When it comes to total online collaboration, what comes into your mind? You'd probably think of different kinds of tools for different online collaboration needs-- you have a tool for presentations, another tool for white boarding, and another for web conferencing. You think that total online collaboration is not really that easy to achieve. That was then, before there was OpenACircle, the total online collaboration tool that allows you to do things like innovative screen-sharing and video conferencing quite easily. OpenACircle is actually all your collaboration tools rolled into one; it allows you to share files, documents, pictures ( and even your desktop) and video conference with up to 50 people in private collaboration circles. It is easy to set up your private workplace where you can collaborate with your team. You can upload documents, spreadsheets, PDFs, PowerPoints, or any other type of file to OpenACircle so that your team can use them easily. OpenACircle is easy to use, a user simply needs to open a circle (a virtual team collaboration space where everyone can share information and work with each other in an environment focused on one particular area of a task or project) and invite people to collaborate and work with. When you open a circle you and your team will have an environment that is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, where you can meet up and become productive. And if you are always on the move, OpenACircle is a very convenient way for you to attend meetings and conferences even if you are on the move.

I guess OpenAcircle is so far the best way to collaborate, it has everything that a small or midium-sized company needs to be able to get teamwork flow more effectively for the desired results.I guess OpenAcircle is so far the best way to collaborate, it has everything that a small or midium-sized company needs to be able to get teamwork flow more effectively and bring good results. It is even quite safe to say that OpenACircle is the future of collaboration.

The Next Big Thing From the Creator of Twitter

Friday, September 18, 2009

In a tweetup just a few hours ago, Jack Dorsey, the inventor of Twitter has revealed that he “came back to St. Louis to find the next thing." And he found it. But what is this next big thing that is in the making? Dorsey did not reveal much about it but said that the not yet named project will focus on the “three concepts (of Twitter) : immediacy, transparency and approachability.”

To give us some clue as to what it is that he's working on, let us read Dorsey's explanation of Twitter :
“Twitter was intended to be a way for vacant, self-absorbed egotists to share their most banal and idiotic thoughts with anyone pathetic enough to read them. When I heard how Iranians were using my beloved creation for their own means—such as organizing a political movement and informing the outside world of the actions of a repressive regime—I couldn’t believe they’d ruined something so beautiful, simple, and absolutely pointless.”
Now what Dorsey is cooking up a "new website that will be so mind-numbingly useless that Iranians will not even be able to figure out how to operate it.”

Then what is it? I still do not have a clue. How about you?

Facebook Down September 18

Facebook was down today? I did know that it was down because I was in facebook for most of this morning but I did not notice anything was down, but I did notice that posting on my wall was not as smooth as ever, whn I hit the blue button to post something on the wall it sort of hanged. Well, that was the nearest thing to Facbook being down today.

Free Business Cards

Tuesday, September 15, 2009

When something is offered for free don't jump on it immediately because nothing is free nowadays. When something is "free" there is always a catch and you realize later that it's not free after all. For example, you want a business card for yourself and you do not want to spend a lot for it so you'd probably try searching first in the net using the keyword "free business cards" and of course the search engine will return a lot of sites that offer "free business cards." But most of these sites do not really give away their designs for free, they make you spend for something else before you can have the what you want. The best thing to do is not to try to find the free ones. It is better to try to find the affordable ones. A good place to get good quality business cards is 123print.com, they have tons of business cards. the good thing about 123print.com is that you can spend as little as $1.99 you'll get 30 high-quality, full-color business cards, that you can customize. And if you really like their business cards, you can upgrade to 100 cards for only $3.95. If you are looking for an affordable way to have good quality business cards, it's a good thing to visit 123print.com before trying to find "free" business cards somewhere else.

Google Fast Flip

Monday, September 14, 2009

Google Fast Flip was officially released on Monday and it is now available on Google Labs. Fast Flip is an online tool that allows users to flip through articles quickly, as if they are just flipping through the pages of a real newspaper or magazine. This tool is obviously aimed at motivating people to read more online. Watch the video below of Google executive Marissa Mayer and team demonstrate Google Fast Flip at Techcrunch50.

Fan Check Virus Snopes

Last week I posted about the Facebook Fan Check virus and how it could possibly be just a hoax. Now it is becoming quite clear that it is really just a hoax, something manufactured by people who live for the Lulz. Have you encountered anyone who really got his PC infected with this virus? So far I haven't read any report about a real victim of this virus. But of course we should always be cautious and refrain from using Facebook Fan Check application for now. I am not a Fan check user so the chance of getting my machine infected is somewhat remote.

Yahoo Fantasy Football

Sunday, September 13, 2009

If you are addicted to fantasy sports then this one's for you: Yahoo Fantasy Football for Blackberry. What are its features? Here they are:
* Live Scoring: Free this year! Follow your team as the games happen – in real time.
* Roster Management: Quarterback injured? No problem. Bench him and start your backup right from your phone.
* Add and drop players: No longer happy with your running back? Simple. Drop him from your team and search for a new one.
* Matchups: Not sure who you play next week? No need to stop what you’re doing, just grab your BlackBerry and check.
But the sad thing is that it's not supported in all Blackberry models, it is only supported on Bold, Curve 8900, and Tour.

Making a Living on the Internet

Friday, September 11, 2009

For some time now I have been contemplating about quiting my boring day job so I would be able to concentrate on earning online. But the question is this: Is it possible to make a living on the internet? I know that 9 out of 10 would say "NO". But I say YES, it is possible to make a full time living on the internet; all one needs to have is the guts, the brains, the knowledge, and the tools in order to be able to do it. I know that many people could not even imagine how to go about earning online, all they know about earning money is working their asses off in the office, pleasing their boss forever. I could not imagine myself working in an office forever, doing the same boring stuff everyday the safe way, receiving that fixed salary every month. There is something better than having a job with a fixed salary and that is by becoming your own boss. Becoming your own boss means not having a boss and doing things your own way. You can probably start a business if you like but of course it entails something like capital--money in the first place, and knowledge about the business niche you want to take on. What if you don't have money for capital? You can try a business that do not need any monetary capital at all, like blogging. I am not saying that you should quit your job now and start blogging, what I am trying to say is that if you never liked working in a corporate setting because you can't really stand corporate BS and idiots on a daily basis plus the inflated egos that fly around the office, then the internet is the place for you. I have a regular job (I am the boss in my department, I have my own office, and I have a little staff) but I am not satisfied with it so last year I started looking for some more exciting things elsewhere. I found blogging (or rather blogging found me) and started earning from it last year. But it was only in January of this year that I started earning really good. If I were to add up all that I and my wife have earned online in the last three months (June, July, August) it would be more than $4,000, most of it, about 70%, came from Google Adsense, the rest from other online money streams. The image below is the actual Adsense money I and my wife got on August 28, that's Php58,400 or $1,202. On the 28th of this month we will be receiving almost the same amount, it depends on the dollar-peso exchange rate on that date.

adsense-money

Now, if you get to earn something that come near to that amount every month, would you give up your boring day job? If you have the guts, you would quit your boring day job because you can actually double or triple that kind of online income if you only put your full time on it. I'll quit my boring day job on March (that's six months away). Why wait for March and not quit now? I could not just fire my boss, that's why LOL!

This article is not meant to encourage you to quit your own boring day job now, I only meant to show you that it is possible to make a full-time living on the internet. Learn the ropes of earning online first then start earning good. When you feel that you can repeat the big earning you've got last month in the next months to come then that's the perfect time to fire your boss. I have learned a lot of stuff in the last five or six months and that knowledge gives me the courage to try bigger things now. Of course I know that even if I know more things than most regular bloggers know, my knowledge is not that big yet. Last month I met a new friend online (that guy who runs the blog Phawville) and I realized that I have yet to learn so many things, that my knowledge about the ins and outs of earning online is not that great yet. I learned a lot of new stuff from him that I can make use of in doing the "bigger" things that I plan to achieve in the next few months.

Teaching is the best way to learn more that is why I will be sharing to you the things that helped me earn quite good online. I have started a blog dedicated to teaching people the things I know about blogging, SEO, and online money. I am now writing the first two articles for that blog, when I finish with the articles you will know because the links below will become live.

SEO Basics for the ultimate noob that some "experts" could use

Google Monopoly | Monopoly City Streets

Wednesday, September 9, 2009

On September 9th an online version of the board game Monopoly will be launched. No exact details about the game yet but what is clear that it will be using Google Maps and it seems that the point is for it to become a massively multi-player online game. The game is Google Monopoly or Monopoly City Streets. I tried to check out the game's teaser site a minute ago but it is down, probably it is flooded with visitor? But I gathered from TechCrunch the description of the game as stated in the teaser site:

The goal is simple. Play to beat your friends and the world to become the richest property magnate in existence.

Own any street in the world. Build humble houses, crazy castles and stupendous skyscrapers to collect rent. Use MONOPOLY Chance Cards to sabotage your mates by building Hazards on their streets.

Palm Pixie

Palm Pixie
The Palm Pixie, which is also known as Palm Eos, is the phone that no one asked for. This cheap phone will debut this week at Fashion Week in New York. Why did I say that it's the phone that no one is asking for? It is because the Palm Pre is the real thing and the Pixie is just like the $99 iPhone, it is not necessary at all. Sure it can do almost everything that the bigger and better Pre can do but the question is, what if you need to do multi-tasking, can it handle multitasking like the way the Pre can do it? Well, no exact details about this phone yet so let's have to wait until it comes out. One thing more, I heard that it has no wifi capability; I am not saying that it's a big deal.

Infolinks Earnings (Ready for Cash Out)

Tuesday, September 8, 2009

I started running Infolinks in-text ads on the pages of my wife's Wow Legs blog on July 25, 2009. Now, 44 days later, the Infolinks in-text ads income is already $112.70, already good enough to be cashed out.

Infolinks in-text ads
Wow, I considered Infolinks as a source of passive income but now that it has proven to generate good income, I will add it to more blogs that I and my wife maintain.

AdBrite Money At Last!

After 17 months of having AdBrite ads on some of my blogs, I finally got to the $100 minimum check amount I have set when I first joined AdBrite last year. I did not really took the hassle of optimizing the AdBrite ads I placed in my blogs because my main focus and main money earner is Adsense. I just forgot about my AdBrite account for many months but a while ago I suddenly remembered that I have an AdBrite account so I logged in (I am lucky that I remembered the password--I have many different online accounts and I use different login and password for each) and was surprised to see that I have just broken into the $100 realm in AdBrite. The total earning as of now is $105.77. Yes, $105.77 in 17 months, he he he I am happy about this even if this is a very small amount; I can earn this amount in two or three days with Adsense.

AdBrite Money

I read the AdBrite FAQ and I learned that I'd receive my check by January. Here is what is written on the "When do i get paid" page.
AdBrite issues payments in US Dollars, two months (net-60) after you accrue them. For example, earnings you generated in March 2008, will get paid out in June 2008. If your net-60 revenue does not meet your minimum check amount, this revenue will automatically roll over to the following month. We begin processing publisher payments on the first business day of each month and mailed them out within the first five business days. Note: For U.S. addresses, please allow 7 to 10 business days for your check to arrive. Non-U.S. addresses may take up to 21 business days.
January is a long way to go but that is still good because I see this as a passive income. Passive income comes as a gift, when you least expect it. I know that I will forget about this and would just be surprised when the check comes on January. But I know that what I will be recieving on January won't just be $105.77 because what I earn for September would be carried on in the check so I guess at the most I'd be receiving around $120. Not bad.

Seiko Kinetic

Monday, September 7, 2009

Guess what, I am now entering my fifth year of marriage and so far so good. I love my wife and our relationship is getting stronger each day we are together. I am thinking about giving her a gift on our 5th wedding anniversary which is just three months away. When it comes to gifts, I am very picky; what would I give her? I have been in the lookout for a very good gift for months now and last week I found it--Seiko Kinetic. My wife is a bit sporty and a bit sophisticated and a bit of everything so this watch really fits her style.I found this watch at Bluedial.com and I immediately fell in love with it. This would be what I'd give my wife on ur anniversary, I know that watches are one of her weaknesses.

Facebook Fan Check Virus

There are unconfirmed reports that the Facebook app called Fan Check is actually a virus. The Facebook Fan Check virus is said to infect users who try to access a Facebook application located at apps.facebook.com/fancheck/. According to some reports, becoming a fan can infect your Facebook account. But not one of these reports are really confirmed and it seems to be just a hoax. It is also possible that some spammers and hackers are fabricating these rumors about the Facebook Fan check virus to make people search solutions for the alleged virus and lead them to sites laden with malware. But the best thing to do now, whether its just rumors or true, it is best to steer clear of Fan Check as of now.

Unexplained Phenomenon

Saturday, September 5, 2009

Why is the keyword "Unexplained Phenomenon" on top of Google Trends today? Is it because of the Google doodle on Google's homepage or is it because of the Exeter UFO Festival? To make it more interesting and confusing, Google has posted an encrypted message on its Twitter account:

1.12.12 25.15.21.18 15 1.18.5 2.5.12.15.14.7 20.15 21.19

What is this all about? You can find some attempted explanations here .

Gmail down | Gmail Outage | Gmail Status

Tuesday, September 1, 2009

I did not know that Gmail is down because I noticed no Gmail outage. I use Gmail daily and I haven't notice anything strange about it today or yesterday. But based on what I have read about it, many people have experienced Gmail outage. I checked Gmail Blog and sure enough, there is a post by David Besbris, Engineering Director at Gmail, about the Gmail outage at the Gmail Blog.
We know many of you are having trouble accessing Gmail right now — we are too, and we definitely feel your pain. We don't usually post about minor issues here (the Apps status dashboard and the Gmail Help Center are usually where this kind of information goes). Because this is impacting so many of you, we wanted to let you know we're currently looking into the issue and hope to have more info to share here shortly. If you have IMAP or POP set up already, you should be able to access your mail that way in the meantime. We're terribly sorry for the inconvenience and will get Gmail back up and running as soon as possible.

So, that's the Gmail status for some users, I'm lucky to have no problems right now with Gmail.
