Google announced on Tuesday the Launch of Google Building Maker, a 3D modeling tool for adding buildings to Google Earth. This tools is for anyone who wants to help Google enhance Google earth with renderings of buildings from selected cities around the world. From what I gathered, the tool is easy to use, all one needs to do to make a building is first select a city from around the world, then make a building from the photos Google provide, then save the building for review. If the submitted building passes the review it will become visible in Google Earth.
Google product manager, Mark Limber, and Matt Simpson, Google user experience designer, wrote in the Google Blog:
"We like to think of Building Maker as a cross between Google Maps and a gigantic bin of building blocks. Basically, you pick a building and construct a model of it using aerial photos and simple 3D shapes – both of which we provide."
