Google to Buy Twitter?

There are rumors circulating around that Google is in "late stage negotiations to acquire Twitter". The actual price is not known but there are speculations that it is more than $250 million. Last year Twitter turned down Facebook's acquisition offer. Now it is another story and it seems that in a few weeks Twitter will be Google's.

Now the question is why would Google want to have Twitter? Is it because Twitter is beginning to show that it has something important that Google doesn't have? Twitter is showing the world that it can change the meaning of the word "search" and Google is threatened so it decided to buy the threat.
