You will know that you are taking your blogging seriously when you start to think about buying a domain name for your blog and getting a good hosting service. Before I bought a domain name for this blog I did some research and found out that there are thousands of companies offering web hosting and domain name registration. How would you know what's best for your blog? Most of us will look at the price first and would probably choose the one that offers the lowest price. Getting a bargain is good but sometimes we need to see if it is really a good bargain we get. Here are some of the good web hosting and domain name registrars that I considered before I bought my blog's domain name. I consider these companies as among the best.
Lunar Pages has been around for ten years. They offer different kinds of web hosting options like basic hosting which is ideal for new webmasters, bloggers & small businesses. Their basic hosting is only $4.95 a month, very affordable for a blogger who is beginning to earn a modest income from paid posts and ads in his blog. If you are a business man who wants to bring your business into the internet, their business hosting which is e-commerce ready with 15,000 Gigabytes of transfer. It also comes equipped with Apache 2 and SSH (Secure Shell). All of their annual web hosting plans include a free domain. They also offer domain registration so you can manage, park, and register unlimited domain names with ease under one domain management control panel. Their unique control panel allows you to update your personal information, add anonymous domain registration, lock or unlock domains, register additional domains, purchase hosting accounts, and manage the Domain Name Servers (DNS) to point to any web hosting account in the world. You can purchase your domain with an email hosting plan and choose between 1 email address or unlimited addresses.
1and1 is probably the best web hosting and domain name registrar around because they offer quality services with prices that are a lot lower than their nearest competitors. Their web hosting service is as low as $3.99 a month yet it is packed with feature that you can find in other companies' more expensive packages. You can choose from a lot of different kinds of hosting packages they offer like beginner, home, business, and developer. As for domain name registration, I bought my blog's domain name from them. What's good with them is that the price they advertise is the price you pay for a domain registration. There are no hidden fees and no special conditions - ever.

I have used 1AND1 and they are very good. Very good service. I don't like GoDaddy's setup. I use Bluehost and they are really good. Here's a tip:
October 7, 2008 at 1:23 PMAvoid IXWEBHOSTING. Their servers get hacked like every two months. That is very bad! They're cheap but the just not reliable.
Agree. When you see yourself doing one blog after another, you'd eventually realize that you LOVE blogging - and be very much willing to do subtle or huge upgrades.
October 7, 2008 at 6:25 PMThanks for the leads. I see you're in Lunar pages. =)
kamusta naman yung lunar pages? especially the support? im not happy with my hosting support. $2 per month lang kasi binabayaran ko kaya hindi maganda support. hahaha.
October 7, 2008 at 7:35 PM@Gem I am very busy now in my day job but I still take time to blog, in fact i am starting an new blog about online money matters, take a peep here. I am on the process of choosing templates pa and modify the one that I'd finally choose.
October 7, 2008 at 8:45 PM@Calvin Lunar is good, try it. Ano yung hosting mo, reseller?
Goodness! I could not imagine how you'd handle all those blogs together with your day job, hehehe!
October 7, 2008 at 11:05 PMI am using HostMonster which same company as Bluehost. Happy with it. :D
October 7, 2008 at 11:25 PM@Gem but I can't keep my self away from blogging. When I see a computer I could not help but connect to the net and check my blogs' stats and drop some EC. Now I am sleepy and 30 minutes from now I am attending a meeting. I'd probably sleep in the meeting, it's boring stuff.
October 7, 2008 at 11:45 PMProbably I could write something about the hazards of too much blogging nye he he he.
@jayce Bluehost is a trusted name, so HostMonster is guaranteed to deliver good service because it is the same company with Bluehost.
October 7, 2008 at 11:47 PMBlogging is interesting! If you have a niche blog you'd have to do some researching too.
October 8, 2008 at 3:17 AMMeetings are a bore... =(
Yes Gem, and in meetings the stage is too narrow small, in blogging the stage is the World Wide Web
October 8, 2008 at 4:21 AMWhat I want to do with my newest blog is to write about what I learn every day in that area. In a day or two that new blog would be up and running he he he. If I can find time to tweak the code of the template I'd be using on it I'd be happy but it seems that it would have to wait.
im with asmallorange.com may reseller din sila i think.
October 8, 2008 at 4:54 AMpareho pala tayo, minsan pinapagalitan ako ni misis kasi pag-uwi galing trabaho PC ulit kaagad hahaha. check stats, drop EC, visit bookmarks. hehehe.
wahehe
October 8, 2008 at 11:22 AMDoes it mean to say I am not taking blogging seriously?
I've only been around for three months, haven't earned money pa...
with or without money... I'll be blogging
hehe
@Calvin oo nga, pareho tayo, at dumagdag pa itong anak ko na 3 years old na super addict na sa games, so he is my competition in using the computer. I am building a new PC for him, all the parts are already there except for the monitor and the casing. Maybe next month my little boy will have his new PC he he he swerte nya kaliit pa nya magkakaroon na sya ng sariling PC.
October 8, 2008 at 7:53 PM@Pchi, you will soon take your blogging seriously. If every time you stumble on something you immediately think about blogging it, then the blogging virus has entered your veins and soon it will become a full-blown BAS or Blogging Addiction Syndrome.
I think Pchi is blogging seriously. She had redesigned her site.. and that's a huge effort.
October 9, 2008 at 8:47 AMOther bloggers had not made it this far. Probably because of that shift in priority from blogging to work.
Yes, if you make the effort of changing your template and tweaking its code it is a sign that you are taking blogging seriously.
