In a recent study done by Royal Pingdom, WordPress came out as the blogging platform that is used by most of the the top 100 blogs in the world. The top 100 blogs include big name companies like the New York Times . 27 of the top 100 blogs use WordPress. The second blogging platform of choice is Typepad with 16 out of the top 100. The pie graph above shows the findings of Royal Pingdom. As you can see Blogger is at ninth place.
Well, WordPress is really cool, I know it because I have started two WordPress blogs which you can find here and here. I am working on the two as of now and they will become quite some blogs in a month or two. But this doesn't mean I am leaving Blogger. I still love Blogger.

I love Typepad. I was gonna go for WP then but I was attracted to the automatic pinging feature of Typepad and also its automatic streaming to Facebook. I don't have WP has it and Typepad is the choice for most non-techie bloggers who want to have a professional blog. Its customer support service staff are great---very very helpful. I have a Blogger blog but I don't like Blogger. For one thing it does not have its own stat counter. There is no customer service support you can rely on immediately for answers and help. There is no automatic streaming to any other social media. I'm not impressed w/ Blogger.
January 16, 2009 at 7:59 AMWhat makes Blogger good is that it is easy to use and it is free; with Typepad you have to pay and with WordPress you need to pay for hosting also. Of course Blogger has a lot of things lacking in it but for a novice blogger who wants to have a blog in five minutes, Blogger is a good choice. But WP is really cool, it has almost everything.
January 17, 2009 at 1:50 PMYea, Typepad is paid and I paid for it since I love their pinging features and streaming features. And the customer support is very very excellent whereas in Blogger , its zero. I'm not a technical person so Typepad is for non-techies. They did my sitemap, my Google verification and Technorati pinging and even the Meta tags ---they did these all for me and I don't even know how to do it. I paid for the support . I won't get this from Blogger.I have a Blogger blog but I'm frustrated w/ Blogger because even statcounter is something to be installed and imported. There is no direct customer support. No assistance for sitemap...etc...nothing at all. I'm quite frustrated with Blogger. I'd rather pay than being frustrated and be inconvenient.
January 18, 2009 at 6:50 AMit's okay if you want it the easier way, what is important is that you are serious about your blogging and that's the only thing that matters.
January 18, 2009 at 8:05 PMAnyway, I started from scratch when I first started a blog, and it was with Blogger. My motto was never to shell out a single penny from my pocket. After a few months I learned a lot of and started to earn. Now, with the money I earned I am free to buy many of the things I want to buy online, like domain names (I have lots), hosting for my WP blogs, and for a forum that I have just started. Now I am setting up an online store for my wife using WP platform. A few months ago I knew nothing about the deeper details of WP and setting up an ecommerce store, but now I am all over it and learning a lot :)
